Active ingredientPantoprazole 40 mg (as sodium sesquihydrate)
Controloc contains pantoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that lowers stomach acid. Doctors use it for acid reflux and reflux oesophagitis, stomach and duodenal ulcers, and together with antibiotics to clear H. pylori.
Each box has 14 gastro-resistant tablets of 40 mg.

How to take
Usually 1 tablet once a day, taken about 1 hour before breakfast, or as your doctor advises.
Swallow whole with water. Do not chew or crush the tablet.
Side effects
Usually well tolerated. Common side effects: headache, diarrhoea, stomach pain, wind, nausea and dizziness.
With long-term use: low magnesium or vitamin B12, and a small increase in the risk of bone fractures and gut infections. Get medical help for severe diarrhoea, a serious rash or signs of an allergic reaction.
Precautions
- Tell the doctor about all your medicines, especially atazanavir, methotrexate and warfarin.
- See a doctor first for red-flag symptoms: difficulty swallowing, vomiting blood, black stools, weight loss, or new symptoms after age 45.
- Tell the doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or have liver disease.

Is Controloc the same as Nexium?
Both are proton pump inhibitors that lower stomach acid. Your doctor chooses one based on your condition and other medicines.
When should I take Controloc?
About an hour before breakfast, swallowed whole.
