Overview

Active ingredientSodium alginate 250 mg, sodium bicarbonate 106.5 mg, calcium carbonate 187.5 mg per tablet

Gaviscon Double Action works in two ways: the antacids neutralise stomach acid, and the alginate forms a soft protective layer (a “raft”) on top of the stomach contents that helps keep acid from rising into the food pipe. It relieves heartburn, acid reflux and indigestion, often within minutes.

Each pack has 16 chewable tablets.

How to take

Adults and children aged 12 and over: chew 2 to 4 tablets after meals and at bedtime, up to 4 times a day.

Chew well before swallowing. Keep other medicines about 2 hours apart from Gaviscon.

Side effects

Side effects are rare. Very rarely, allergic reactions. Taking much more than the recommended dose can cause bloating or constipation.
