Active ingredientAlverine citrate 60 mg, simeticone 300 mg per capsule
Meteospasmyl combines alverine citrate, which relaxes the muscles of the gut to ease cramping pain, with simethicone, which helps break up trapped gas. It is used for functional bowel symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating and wind, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Each box has 30 soft capsules.

How to take
Adults: 1 capsule 2 to 3 times a day, at the start of meals or when you have pain, or as your doctor advises.
Swallow whole with water.
Side effects
Usually well tolerated. Rarely: allergic reactions such as rash or itching. Very rarely, liver problems; stop and see a doctor if you notice yellow skin or eyes, dark urine or unusual tiredness.
Precautions
- Not recommended for children, or in pregnancy or breastfeeding unless a doctor advises.
- See a doctor first for red-flag symptoms: blood in the stool, weight loss, fever, symptoms that wake you at night, or new symptoms after age 50.
