How to take
How to use

- Doxy PEP: take only as advised by our doctor, following the instruction guide in the kit.
- The instruction guide in the kit has a QR code to the full guide.
Side effects
Most people have no side effects or only mild ones. Doxy PEP can cause nausea, stomach upset, headache, or skin that burns more easily in the sun. PrEP can cause nausea, headache or diarrhoea in the first few weeks. Tell our doctor if side effects do not go away.
Precautions
- Our doctor reviews your details before prescription medicine is sent. It cannot be supplied without this review.
- You must test HIV-negative before starting PrEP and every 3 months while taking it. Taking PrEP while you have HIV can make the virus resistant to treatment.
- Tell our doctor if you have kidney disease, hepatitis B or bone problems. If you have hepatitis B, do not stop PrEP without talking to our doctor.
- Doxycycline is not usually given during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Tell our doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Take doxycycline upright with a full glass of water, and avoid long periods in strong sunlight while taking it.
- Tell our doctor about all other medicines you take. PrEP does not protect against other sexually transmitted infections or pregnancy.
Travel Sexual Health Kit: common questions
Do I need a prescription?
Yes. Doxy PEP and PrEP are prescription medicines. Our doctor reviews your order and may contact you for a free e-prescription consultation.
What is PrEP?
PrEP is a tablet taken every day to lower the risk of getting HIV from sex. It needs regular HIV tests and kidney checks.
What is Doxy PEP?
Doxy PEP is doxycycline, an antibiotic that our doctor may advise after a possible exposure. It does not protect against HIV, and it is not a substitute for testing.
Can I take these medicines when I travel?
Some countries limit the medicines you can bring in. Check the rules of your destination before you travel.
What does the kit cost?
RM129 for the full kit: the travel pouch, 10 Doxy PEP tablets, 10 PrEP tablets, hand sanitiser, mouthwash and instruction guide.
Can I get a letter to carry the medicine?
Yes. Tick the letter option, then enter your date of travel and country at checkout. Our doctor issues a signed letter with the clinic chop after your order is paid, and you can download it from your order page.
Who checks my order?
A CarePlus Clinic doctor checks every medicine order that needs a doctor’s review before it is sent. For prescription medicine, our doctor can review your details and issue a free e-prescription.
When will my order be sent?
Orders are usually dispatched within 2 working days after payment, by tracked courier in plain packaging. You’ll get the tracking number in your account.
