Active ingredientMacrogol 4000 10 g per sachet
Forlax contains macrogol 4000, an osmotic laxative. It holds water in the bowel, which softens the stool and makes it easier to pass. It is not absorbed into the body and works gently, usually within 1 to 2 days.
Each box has 20 sachets of 10 g powder.
How to take
Adults: 1 to 2 sachets a day, preferably as a single dose in the morning. Dissolve each sachet in a glass of water (about 125 ml) and drink.
Drink enough fluids and eat fibre during the day. Use for short periods; see a doctor if constipation lasts more than 2 weeks.
Side effects
Possible side effects: bloating, stomach pain, wind, nausea and diarrhoea. If diarrhoea occurs, take less or stop.
Precautions
- Do not use if you have a blocked or torn bowel, severe inflammatory bowel disease, or unexplained stomach pain.
- See a doctor first if you notice blood in the stool, weight loss, or a recent change in bowel habit after age 50.
- For children, pregnancy or breastfeeding, ask our doctor first.
